Harriett’s little sampler touches my heart. The sentiment highlighting the strength in being humble and being of service to others means a great deal to me. There’s a difference in being humble and being a doormat – a humble person finds worth in being part of a community where everyone thrives, not only themselves. I hope stitching Harriett’s sampler touches your humble heart too.
This design has a stitch count of 111w x 221h and only uses full crosses over two. In my model, I used one strand of floss over two threads of linen. I used Gentle Arts, Weeks Dye Works & Classic Colorworks overdyes, but the chart contains a full DMC conversion. It is suitable for beginners to advanced stitchers, and can be stitched on linen, Aida or evenweave of any count that you prefer.
Model stitched on 36-count ‘Toasted Mallow’ by Number12StitchCo on Etsy. The original was stitched in wools on a very uneven fabric, and a few adjustments were made to the pattern for clarity and cohesion. Visit my blog for more info on the design, the finishing and the antique original.
